The right time for a family portrait!

What were you looking to achieve from your shoot with us?

We have never had photos taken together as a family and the only images we have are those taken on holiday. It was our son Kieran who said to me a few weeks ago that he would love a family photo on the wall, it was after that that we found Bartley Portrait Studios!

Tell us about your family

There are just the 3 of us in our family but we do also have 4 cats and a large Tropical fish tank. As a family we are quite active, I myself am addicted to the gym and go to classes 5-6 days per week and my partner Becki normally goes 4-5 times a week. Kieran plays on the back row for a local rugby team, Winnington Park and loves attending both weekly training and matches around the North West on Sundays. I am also a PADI qualified Rescue Diver and we always pick holiday destinations where I can get my diving in. Kieran is keen to follow my interest and will be going into the final year of School this September and he plans to go onto 6th form and hopefully university with the ultimate aim of becoming a Marine Biologist . As a family we all love our music and spend many an hour sitting in the conservatory at home listening to music and changing from one taste to another.

Had you ever done anything like this before?

Not as a family no, Becki had a personal photoshoot about 13 years ago but not a thing as a family and our walls are bare of the three of us together.

Why did you think that Bartley Studios would be right for you?

It was Facebook that drew us to yourselves and the very professional website and amazing images you show on there.

What props did you bring and why?

We are brought a couple of changes of clothes but also brought along our gym gear and Kieran brought along his Rugby kit and ball.

How did your photographer use your props to suit a style?

Chris was fantastic and made us feel at ease throughout, he gave suggestions on what to and what not to wear and suggested what type of poses went well with what we were wearing.

Were you worried about any parts of the session beforehand and if so what?

I think Kieran was the most apprehensive as the only experience he has of having his photo taken is the ones that happen at school where you are told to stay still and smile and he didn’t really want to be there but Chris quickly changed his perception and got Kieran laughing and smiling which is a feat in itself for a 15 year old!

Tell us about the favourite parts of your experience and why you enjoyed them

I thing our favourite part was actually Chris the photographer, he was wonderful with us, made us feel at ease, got us doing strange stuff and was very approachable and extremely funny. He made us feel relaxed throughout and gave advise on what to wear and of course how to pose.

What advice do you have for other clients coming for a shoot with us?

Come with an open mind, as many clothes and personal items as you want and be willing to just enjoy yourself

What was your favourite image overall?

We could have quite easily chosen about 25 images to buy but we settled on 4 after much deliberation, I think our favourite one is the three of us together all smiling which will take pride of place in our lounge.

Are there any other comments that you would like to add?

As a business you made us all feel relaxed from the second we walked in the door, we sat on the comfy sofa’s and we’re offered a drink straight away. Chris came and introduced himself and took us to the studio where he explained everything and was always asking if we were ok. It was an amazing experience from the second we walked in to when we met with John to go through the images who was not pushy at all and gave us advise on images and styles that worked well together. Thanks Bartley Studios we would 100% recommend you to anyone wanting a similar experience.
