Chihuahuas – The small breed with the big heart

We love to find out more information on some of the most popular breeds of dogs to enter Bartley Studios, so that we are in every way knowledgeable about how to make your pet feel right at home here and achieve the best shots!

Chihuahuas are known for being the smallest breed of dog, however any owner will agree they have the biggest personalities going…

Despite being tiny and cute in size there is no denying the feisty, diva side that is very common in Chihuahuas! It is all of these reasons that make up why we love shooting them so much, being able to capture all of their different traits and their small size is great!

If you are considering a Chihuahua as an addition to your family, it is so important to do your research first! The little dogs are not usually recommended for first-time dog owners since their independence and confidence makes them trickier to train than most dogs! If you do purchase a Chihuahua as your first puppy, it may be a good idea to enrol on a puppy obedience course, to assist you in your training and also help them to socialise with other dogs and people.

Chihuahuas are also only recommended for adults or families with children over 8 years.. due to their small size they can easily be hurt or scared by boisterous toddlers who might play too rough for their tiny size! Chihuahuas are instinctively more wary of young children and may tend to avoid them since they’re highly intelligent dogs and can sense that they are more vulnerable around them.

Despite all of this Chihuahuas really do make the best pets, they are playful and loveable and love spending time with their owners whether its playing games such as fetch or having cuddles on the sofa after a long day. Their size can be a huge bonus too, it means it is easy for them to come along to most places with you, and is a dog that can be kept in an apartment, having lower exercise requirements than bigger breeds.

If you’re after some gorgeous and fun shots of your Chihuahua baby be sure to bring them in to see us so that our photographers can use their expertise to get all of the adorable shots you’re after!
